Deploying tech to improve the nutritional outcomes of food security

ISABEL partnered with the San Francisco City Government and the Treasure Island Homeless Development Initiative to build an automated hydroponic greenhouse that supports a local food pantry program with weekly donations of fresh produce. We trained and now employee local residents in basic greenhouse maintenance. Our Treasure Island pilot demonstrates how local governments and technology start-ups can collaborate to improve both economic and nutritional outcomes for low-income urban communities.
